Good evening, and welcome to Riverside Radio News. Our main story tonight: the old footbridge over the River Alder will close next Monday for repairs. According to the town council, the work is expected to take about eleven weeks and will cost around two hundred and forty thousand pounds. Council officials said the bridge is safe at the moment, but that several metal supports have rusted badly. During the work, walkers and cyclists will be asked to use the road bridge, a kilometre downstream, and a free shuttle bus will run every fifteen minutes between the station and the market square. A public meeting about the plan will be held at the library on Thursday evening. And in other news, the Saturday market on Church Lane has found a new home. From the first of November, traders will move to the car park behind the sports centre, because the old street is too narrow for so many stalls. A spokesperson for the traders said about sixty stalls are expected on the first day. Visitors can park for free until noon. That's all from the newsroom. Good night.
