1. 0:08In an earlier lesson, we talked about ways to say goodbye.
2. 0:12We only had time for the formal ways, like goodbye and have a good day.
3. 0:18Today we want to teach some informal ways to part from a friend.
4. 0:23If you think you will see them soon, you might say, see you soon, or see you soon.
5. 0:30When we speak informally, we often use the reduced vowel or schwa, which sounds like Ah.
6. 0:38In writing, you might see this written with YA as in, see you later, or see you around.
7. 0:45The structure for these expressions is verb with an optional preposition, plus you, plus time.
8. 0:55Example, see you later.
9. 0:58One example with a preposition is talk to you later.
10. 1:02there. So we might say, See you tomorrow or Catch you next week.
11. 1:09Sometimes we just use until with later or another time word.
12. 1:13For example, Until tomorrow.
13. 1:16I've heard people just say later.
14. 1:19And sometimes we are saying goodbye to someone we don't expect to see again soon.
15. 1:24In that case, we wish them well.
16. 1:27Well, at the goodbye party for Mary, I heard some of those.
17. 1:32One was, take care of yourself and stay in touch.
18. 1:36Right! If someone is leaving on a trip, you can wish them a safe journey with.
19. 1:42Have a safe trip.
20. 1:44Or we can say, drive safely.
21. 1:47Well, I have to go now, John.
22. 1:49As our friend Anna says, until next time.
23. 1:53Later, Jill! And that's everyday grammar.
