    تهدید به شمار آمدن؛ خطر ایجاد کردن

    فعل pose با threat، risk، challenge و problem می‌آید. make a threat یعنی «کسی را تهدید کردن» (با حرف)، نه «خطر بودن». create a threat هم کمتر طبیعی است.

    Rising sea levels pose a serious threat to coastal cities.

    پر کردن شکاف (میان دو چیز)

    پاسخگوی تقاضا بودن

    با meet ترکیب‌های «برآوردن» ساخته می‌شود: meet needs، meet standards، meet requirements. answer the demand یا reach the demand طبیعی نیست.

    مزرعه‌های محلی نمی‌توانند پاسخگوی تقاضای رو به رشد برای غذای ارگانیک باشند.
