هرچه بیشتر، بهتر: The more…, the better
The more…, the better: comparative patterns
«هرچه بیشتر تمرین کنی، بیشتر یاد می‌گیری» در انگلیسی دو تا the لازم دارد: The more you practise, the more you learn. همراه با more and more و colder and colder، much / far / a bit + صفت تفضیلی و twice as… as.

the + تفضیلی…، the + تفضیلی…
دو بخش داریم و هر بخش با the + صفت یا قید تفضیلی شروع می‌شود، بعد فاعل و فعل. اگر تفضیلی همراه اسم باشد، اسم بلافاصله بعد از more / less / fewer می‌آید: The more money you earn…. در گفتار، دو بخش کوتاه و بدون فعل هم رایج است: The sooner, the better.
- The more you practise, the more confident you become.هرچه بیشتر تمرین کنی، اعتمادبه‌نفست بیشتر می‌شود.
- The longer we waited, the angrier he got.هرچه بیشتر منتظر ماندیم، عصبانی‌تر شد.
- The fewer things you pack, the easier the trip is.هرچه وسایل کمتری ببری، سفر راحت‌تر است.
- "When should I send it?" "The sooner, the better."«کی بفرستمش؟» «هرچه زودتر، بهتر.»

شدت مقایسه را درست بگو
very قبل از صفت تفضیلی نمی‌آید. برای «خیلی …تر» much، far یا a lot؛ برای «کمی …تر» a bit، a little یا slightly؛ و برای «حتی …تر» even. برای «چند برابر» از twice / three times + as … as استفاده کن. twice هیچ‌وقت با than نمی‌آید؛ three times bigger than هم رایج است، ولی as … as دقیق‌تر و امن‌تر است.
- My new job is a bit less stressful than my old one.کار جدیدم کمی کم‌استرس‌تر از کار قبلی‌ام است.
- Today is even hotter than yesterday.امروز حتی از دیروز هم گرم‌تر است.
- The tickets cost three times as much as last year.بلیت‌ها سه برابر پارسال قیمت دارند.

دام فارسی‌زبان‌ها
۱. «هرچه بیشتر… بیشتر…» در فارسی حرف تعریف ندارد، پس خیلی‌ها می‌گویند More you practise, more you learn ✗. هر دو بخش the می‌خواهند. ۲. بخش دوم را جمله‌ی عادی نکن: The more you practise, you learn more ✗ ← the more you learn. ۳. ترتیب: «هرچه پول بیشتری داشته باشم» = The more money I have، نه The more I have money. ۴. «روزبه‌روز ارزان‌تر» = cheaper and cheaper، نه more and more cheaper؛ more and more فقط با صفت بلند. ۵. «خیلی بهتر» = much better، نه very better.
